The 4th Annual National Fall Prevention Safety Stand-Down is held on May 8 through the 12, 2017.   OSHA will be conducting a national safety stand down for construction in honor of all who have fallen to their death and to educate as many construction workers as possible about the hazards and precautions that can be taken.

The purpose of the National Fall Prevention Stand-Down is to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 350 of the 937 construction fatalities recorded in 2015.  Those deaths were preventable.

What is a Safety Stand-Down?

A Safety Stand-Down is an event for companies to talk directly to workers about safety, this year we are focusing on “Fall Hazards” and to reinforce the importance of “Fall Prevention.”  Northridge will observe a pause during the workday for topical discussions, safety demonstrations, and training in hazard recognition and fall prevention. This will allow for time to talk about hazards, protective methods and the company’s safety policies, goals and expectations.
